"Los cantes de Málaga" Experience

A journey to the origins of flamenco in Malaga.

In the cosmopolitan city of Malaga, culture, the history of one of the most ancient cities of the Iberian Peninsula and its people all come together.

This is a unique opportunity to discover unknown places and hidden gems of the city. The “Corralones” of Malaga are more than just a place or a “barrio”, they are an authentic and unique way of life. Since ancient times and , these popular districts, sometimes forgotten by other historical events in the city, have been able to keep and protect customs and traditions that seemed to have been lost.

Yolanda and Esther, two locals from El Perchel, take us into an area that remains hidden from the eyes of the visitor and even from the Malaga locals themselves. El Perchel and La Trinidad, through the stories and life of its people, will lead us to discover a way of understanding life and its own roots, a way of understanding and expressing flamenco in Malaga that we will discover and remember through this route.

We will have exclusive access to neighbours’ houses, to their most private surroundings, to their way of understanding community life. We will unravel the roots of Malaga’s flamenco styles. We will get to know the legacy left by flamenco artists born in these barrios that form part of the history of this art that is part of the heritage of humanity.

We will discover songs and sounds that are the result of their experiences and during our journey we will recover some songs that were apparently forgotten.

An authentic and different way of sharing and discovering the heart of this city.
